The hope and happiness of Thanksgiving was in the air on Thursday, November 17 when The Chapel in Lake Zurich distributed Thanksgiving “Blue Bag” dinners to 57 families in Lake Zurich and surrounding Lake County, Illinois.
In partnership with Food for Friends, The Chapel assembled and blessed people with dinners consisting of turkey, stuffing and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving meal. The Chapel was able to even throw in an extra touch of dessert with the donation of about a hundred bags of candy from Walgreens.
In an effort to involve even more people in the community this year, The Chapel had members of their church family donate the non-perishable items. The Chapel also enlisted the junior high/high school ministry to collate and give out the bags. As you can see by the picture on this page, they were all smiling and happy to volunteer their time for such a great event.
Those who received the Blue Bags left with smiles and hearts warmed by the love of those distributing the bags. “We just moved to Lake Zurich and I am touched by the generosity of all the people I have met,” said Lisa, one of those receiving a Blue Bag. “We have had a rough year and I didn’t know what I was going to do for Thanksgiving. I just don’t know how to thank you” continued the tearful single mother of five.
Thanks to all who donated meal items or volunteered time to help distribute these Blue Bags.
