IMG_5303On Friday, July 14, 2017 the 8th grade students of  San Miguel School in the Chicago “Back of the Yards” neighborhood celebrated their graduation.  We served about 200 guests, providing a delicious meal and cake catered by Lee & Eddies.

Food For Friends hosted the event to honor the students and their families, helping them celebrate the graduation of students who are working hard to improve their lives via education.

The ambiance for the whole event was great!  The room was beautifully decorated; music played while the meal was served and graduates took pictures with their families.

After the meal was served, I could not help to notice the smiles of the graduates and their families. This was truly a wonderful gift. The families were very appreciative of the meal and our presence. The school leaders were extremely grateful of the Food For Friends organization and our donors for providing the meal and the volunteer servers.

Speaking of the volunteers, we had a small team of wonderful volunteers serving the meal with smiles and that made the event a huge success.  A special Thank you to Barb, Elaine, Miguel, Lucy, Vivian, Analisy, Naela, Moises and Owen who gave up their Friday evening to give back to this special community.  Their hearts are filled with that special feeling you get when you give back to those who are less fortunate.
