Food For Friends participated as a partner for a Christmas dinner organized by the Music Box Foundation on December 22, 2018 at 6843 South Harper in Chicago. The article below was submitted by Beverly Lloyd, Secretary, Music Box Foundation.. For more pictures of the event, see our Facebook Album titled 2018Dec22 Music Box Foundation.
At this serving event, Food For Friends provided a meal for 200 people and volunteers, partnering with The Music Box Foundation.
The Christmas Dinner was a great success. The dinner started around 1:00 PM after the blessing of the food. We had over 150 guests. Everyone enjoyed the dinner. The meal consisted of fried chicken, mac and cheese, greens, mashed potatoes, dinner rolls, and cookies. All of the Chicken was demolished 🙂 and the remainder of 2 pans of greens was eaten after 4:00 PM by late comers.
We had a total of 14 volunteers!!! Food for Friends volunteers, Don Staunton and his family, Liz Heavenrich and her family, and Kathryn Liao were awesome. They helped to serve and break down. We had 4 volunteers from Kijuana’s group for Music Box Foundation at the beginning of the event to assist with the setup and serve. The volunteers were absolutely on the mark with their support.
The Music Box Foundation Community Band performed 6 songs which included 3 Christmas Carols, one of which was a solo performed by one of our 8-year-old band . We also had entertainment from a seniors dance group called Seniors in Style. They performed their Line Dance routine to a couple of Christmas Carols as well. Toys, donated by ChanookaWish Foundation, were given out to all the younger kids in attendance.
Food for Friends, thank you for providing the food for this event. You rock!!!
