Food For Friends served 100 meals to the men of Ewing Annex Hotel on February 16, 2019

On Saturday, February 16, we had a lot of fun serving a great meal again at the Ewing Annex Hotel.

The Annex Hotel provides affordable temporary housing for men in need. Many of the men stay at local shelters most of the time and stay at the Annex when they can afford to do so. The Annex, unlike the shelters,  provides the men their own rooms so they can enjoy some privacy.  The hotel houses 130 men in transition and they were nearly at capacity with only 3 vacancies on this cold February day.

At the event, we served fried chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, a vegetable mix, Italian beef sandwiches, meatballs, bread, and jello to about eighty to ninety men.   The men were so pleased with the food, many of the men came back for seconds, with the fried chicken being a big hit among them. Many men said this was the best meal they had eaten in a very long time.  Thank you to Food For Friends and Lee and Eddies for this great meal.
My parents (John and June) and I were accompanied by the Short family (old and good friends of ours), Jeff, Mia, and their son Jeremy.
We had a good time and look forward to serving again.
