On Saturday, May 11th Food For Friends sponsored a Mother’s Day brunch for approximately 50 well-deserving moms living in the township of Highwood.
For this event, we partnered with Christ Church Highland Park and Nuestro Center, who have a tremendous heart for loving and supporting their community. Ben Torres, the Pastor of Hispanic & Multi-ethnic Outreach at Christ Church has launched Spanish-only services to reach those in the Highwood community who are in need.
This meal, consisting of brunch items like bagels, eggs, and bacon, was part of the continued investment of time, energy and talents toward building meaningful relationships with one another. In addition to brunch, the mom’s had an opportunity to make a photo frame, get a manicure and participate in discussions at their table.
Pastor Torres’s vision is that these new relationships can bring advancing hope and healing to a community of people who often live not knowing where their next meal may come from.
We were honored to participate in this event and are thankful to be part of improving the lives of those in need within the Highwood Community. For more pictures from this event, see our Facebook Album: 2019May11 – Highwood Mothers Day Brunch
