Despite the rain, what a joyful time it was for all who attended the cookout. First, it was a joy to serve the Lord. Second, it was a joy to serve our friends. Although they are homeless, they know how to have a joyful time, and eat, and boy can they eat! They must have eaten all the food in town.

There were at least 125 people or more. The volunteers from H.E.L.P.S Ministry cooked the food.  The guests were offered chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, and pork chops with all the trimmings. We had a lot of hot dogs and meats! Everything was so delicious, it was a feast!  Our drinks were lemonade, fruit punch, and Mondo drinks.  We had sides of salad, fresh fruit, macaroni salad, and baked potatoes (loaded)! For desserts, we had chocolate chip cookies that were homemade, pies, carrot cake, and other special desserts!

A DJ was on site and played music throughout the event even though it rainstorm.  People danced in the rain, it was great.

A shout-out to Food For Friends for supplying the sizzling hot dogs, juicy burgers as well as the volunteers.  The volunteers were amazing, they help to serve and clean up afterward.  They are very special people!

When the rain came down, we just moved the party indoors! We filled up the gym with food, folks, and fun! The brave and committed cooks stayed on the grill cooking all the food – rain or shine. Some people had the opportunity to take a couple of meals to go.  Once again, thanks Food For Friends for being a part of a great event!!!

The H.E.L.P.S Ministry is a chapel, food pantry and shelter that serves St. Charles and Elgin providing food and clothing to those in need.  Food For Friends has been a strong partner to the H.E.L.P.S Ministry.
