Food For Friends partnered with Music Box Foundation again for a Thanksgiving event held at the Fire station at 6843 South Harper Ave. during the afternoon of November 16, 2019.
The volunteers were amazing with the set up, serving and clean up. Everyone was kind and outgoing. Thank you very much to all the volunteers that participated. Special thank you to our leaders for their assistance with the event, Beverly Lloyd (Secretary with Music Box Foundation) and Mike Ritza (Food For Friends lead volunteer for this event).
There were more than 100 guests from the community that came out for to celebrate Thanksgiving early. There was a lot of good live music. The meal consisted of turkey, dressing, mac-n cheese, greens, sweet potatoes, gourmet cookies and fresh dinner rolls. It was a great turn-out, everyone was delighted with the meal and almost all the food was consumed. The leftovers were donated to the East Woodlawn Residential building . Thanks to Food For Friends partner, Lee N Eddies Catering, for providing the meal for this event. The meal was delicious and tasty.
Overall the event was a success and the Music Box Foundation team expressed to us how grateful they are for the partnership they have with Food For Friends.
A few days after the event, we received the following note from Jazmin Aaron of Music Box Foundation:
We would like to thank Food For Friends once again for assisting us for another amazing Thanksgiving event. We were able to serve over 100 guests between 2 and 6 PM. There were 16 volunteers present. Each volunteer was absolutely amazing and well attentive to guests and assisting us through their entire shift. We were sad to see them leave but hope to see them again soon.
As always the food was a delight.
