Event Recap: Thanksgiving Blue Bag Event at HopeWell Missionary Baptist Church

On Saturday November 23, we donated 25 turkeys and Blue Bags to Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church in Chicago. The following is a short email we received from Rev. Cartha McKenzie Jr., pastor of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.

The Hopewell Community Church and the “All Things Through Christ Outreach at Ministry” 6600 S Hermitage – in the heart of the Engelwood community of Chicago had been operating its food pantry serving hundreds of families each month for over 20 years .

The turkeys are always a great addition to the wide range of food that is provided each Saturday. Many of our families rely heavily on food donation from our pantry which also provides a large selection of cloths for our guests to select from each Saturday that includes children and adult cloths – shoes – gloves – bedding and warm weather cloths.

A small but steadfast group of about 10 volunteers operate the pantry which is helped majorly by the Chicago Food Depository and other local food stores
