On Saturday, December 21st, Food for Friends partnered with Together We’re Elgin, to serve a Christmas meal to the Elgin community.
Together we’re Elgin’s mission is to serve people in all walks of life. Dinners are open to anyone whether they are homeless, a single parent, feeling alone, or they are just hungry. This brought about 600 guests in this weekend’s event. Guests were served ham, scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, salad, and delicious steamed carrots. Compliments to the chefs!
With help from community partners, Together We’re Elgin brought Santa to the dinner which took pictures and gave each child a Christmas present. In addition, a local health care provider and a clothes drive was available to the guests.
A big thank you to all the volunteers that served food, drew place mats, scrubbed pans, picked up garbage, hung up coats and served food. Without you, these events would not be possible. Thank you for your flexibility and serving with a smile.
Together We’re Elgin has provided dinners for the Elgin community for 10 years and would love to see you at a future event. If you would like to learn more about Together We’re Elgin visit their Facebook page @Together We’re Elgin. https://www.facebook.com/togetherelgin/
Merry Christmas to everyone!
