As many of you who read the articles on our website already know, Food For Friends has been serving the men at the Ewing Annex Hotel for many years. As the pandemic continues and everyone’s lives have been impacted by COVID-19, we decided to plan another meal for the men at the hotel.
The following article writeup was provided by Barb Gaona (FFF Volunteer). She was involved in this meal box distribution at Ewing Annex, which we sponsored on May 16, 2020. For this event, we actually provided a boxed meal that was delivered via a Food Truck!
Special thank you to Barb… for your passion in wanting to serve the men at Ewing Annex Hotel. Also thanks Pink Taco team, including Brian and his fellow coworkers for making the delicious meal. For more pictures from this event, go to our album on Facebook
On Saturday, May 16, 2020, Food For Friends provided a boxed meal to the men at the Ewing Annex Hotel. Food For Friends ordered 150 boxed burritos (chicken steak or veggie) and bottled waters for the men.
The Pink Taco food truck arrived at 11:30 and parked in front of the hotel. In order to minimize the risk of the men and volunteers, Mike Bush (of Ewing Annex Hotel), coordinated the men to come down and pick up the boxed meal. Keeping my ‘social distance’, I greeted the men as they came out to pick up the boxed meal. Everyone enjoyed the burritos, they were very good. Everyone laughed and talked, it was great!!
One of the men from Annex hotel said to me “I am lucky to have a place to live and people that care by providing a meal” It was a beautiful day and the lunch was much appreciated.
