Event Recap: Serving at Ewing Annex Hotel – September 12, 2020

On Saturday, September 12, 2020, Food For Friends provided a meal to the men at the Ewing Annex Hotel.

Thanks to Food For Friends volunteers Naela and Barbara as well as Christina Chacon, Food For Friends Board Member, for volunteering at this serving event.

Dan Veles caterer of Lee ‘n Eddies delivered and helped set up the 120 bagged sandwiches (assorted chicken and pork) and bottle waters.  Each bagged meal contained a sandwich, a cup of mac and cheese, chips, cookie and a mint.

A special thanks to Food For Friends volunteers Naela and Barbara, who were on site ready to assist and serve the men.

Originally our plan was to set up in front of the hotel and distribute the bagged meal as we have the last couple of times.  Due to the weather, Mike Bush (of Ewing Annex Hotel) set up a couple of tables inside a room to distribute the meal to the men.

In order to minimize the risk of the men and volunteers everyone was required to wear a mask.  Only 10 men were allowed to pick up a bagged meal at one time.

One of the men from the hotel blessed the meal right before we started the distribution.  Barbara greeted cheerfully everyone that picked up a meal.  Everyone enjoyed the sandwiches and expressed their gratitude for everyone at Food For Friends.

We are proud of our long running serving events at the Ewing Annex Hotel. We are making an impact on the lives of these men.
