Six months into the pandemic, Food For Friends continues to step in and provide much needed food for families in the Lake Zurich community.
On September 19, 2020, beautiful sunny Saturday, Food For Friends sponsored a mobile food pantry at the Chapel in Lake Zurich, which is designed to reach out to families that are struggling and provide them with some food to ease their budget concerns.
The Mobile Food Pantry continues to operate as a drive-through experience. As each car came through the line, everyone stayed in their car as volunteers loaded the food into cars.
In total 158 households were provided a week’s worth of groceries. Each family received 3-4 gallons of milk, tomatoes, potatoes, cabbage and a box of meat (chicken meatballs and sausage links).
Additionally, we were able to support the Fellowship Housing Moms and the LifeBridge Church members in Wauconda.
Our primary source for the food for these Mobile Food Pantry events is the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Special Thank you to the volunteers from Food For Friends, The Chapel (Lake Zurich) and LifeBridge (Wauconda) who carved out some time to make this event successful.
