Saturday, December 11, 2021 Food For Friends provided 190 holiday blue bags to the families and community of San Miguel School, Back of the Yards neighborhood. This event was sponsored by Columbus Vegetable Oil and the Chicago Rugby Club.
The volunteers from the Chicago Rugby Club arrived in full force to assemble and distribute the holiday blue bags at San Miguel School for three schools; Edwards Elementary, Lords Park, and San Miguel School.
The holiday bags were filled with a frozen turkey, cooking oil, pasta, dry beans, canned vegetables, ready to eat sandwiches, and tortillas. Many of the families picked up the holiday bags in shopping carts. They were very grateful for the food items.
