On Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 Food For Friends partnered with Lords Park Elementary in Elgin and Richard Edwards School in Chicago to provide a turkey and blue bag filled with non-perishable items.
Lords Park Elementary Principal, Assistant Principal, and 5th grade teacher delivered 30 bags and turkeys to families. Richard Edwards principal and school staff invited 35 families to pick up a bag and a turkey at their school.
Both school principals invited teachers and school staff to select students and families in their classrooms. Many teachers shared that the families selected showed tremendous gratitude. When families picked up the blue bag and turkey or opened a door to receive us, they shared that it was a blessing to receive a meal for their family.
A big thank you to all the school staff that gave their time to serve their school families by providing them with a meal. In addition, a special thank you to our sponsors Columbus Vegetable Oil and Chicago Rugby Team that donated food and helped pack the blue bags.
