On Thanksgiving day several volunteers from FOOD FOR FRIENDS gathered at 10 AM to serve a Thanksgiving feast to 120 plus hotel guests at the Annex hotel. This hotel has been a beacon of light for decades for men who have run into difficulties in their life and ended up out on the street or with no place to live. There is a low cost to stay in these rooms.
The men were served a warm and delicious Thanksgiving meal catered by Lee N'Eddies. The meal included turkey stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, dinner roll, butter, corn, and Culver’s ice cream cup; a real treat. Food For Friends not only provides a warm meal but also a listening ear to hear the stories and provides hope and encouragement for the men. This year, Dan said a Thanksgiving message and prayer alongside Leo one of the men we both prayed together.
FOOD FOR FRIENDS considers it a privilege to come down here once a month and serve a warm meal on a Saturday to the men. We know many of them by name and they look forward to seeing our volunteers and their smiling faces.
